You'll find throughout this site we tend to gush over the scenic aspects. Frankly, it can't be helped; they're fantastic.

All the imagery you see at the tops of the pages and in the gallery were taken while we were just kind of standing around; it's beautiful where ever you look. For that reason, we haven't included a photo on this page.

It's the south face of the highest peak in the local range -- so you get both sunrise and sunset in their full glory. It's amazing to quite literally watch clouds form around you and fall to the valley below, or a rain system broach the shield wall and come marching; you can hear the rain walk for about half a mile. The winter months should be photographed for Hallmark, and we've actually watched the peak cut a contrail in a clear sky.

The night sky is magnificent. There is a bare minimum of light pollution, so the sky blazes; you can actually navigate by starlight and can read by a full moon. [That last statement has actually been tested, believe it or not.] All we can say is make sure you budget for a large telescope -- a very large telescope.
